Fundamentals to Living a Healthy Lifestyle

The three basic fundamentals to living a healthy lifestyle are sleep, exercise, and more importantly preventing injuries. In today's fast paced society, these three fundamentals are the most overlooked; establishing a well-balanced routine that incorportates these functions is the key to healthy living.

Excercise

„Exercise is activity requiring physical effort, carried out especially to sustain or improve health and fitness.

Sleep

„Sleep is the reduced activity that is associated with a typical posture, such as lying down with eyes closed. It results in a decreased responsiveness to external stimuli. Better defined as neurological and physiological changes induced by an altered state of mind.

Injury Control

„An effort to prevent or reduce the severity of bodily injuries that are caused by external mechanisms, such as accidents, before they occur.

Managing Pain

What is Pain?

Pain is the body’s way of letting us know when something is wrong through uncomfortable sensations that may feel throbbing, burning, aching, stabbing, etc.

Pain is either acute or chronic.

—There are three tiers to pain management that start after diagnosis:

¡First Tier – Exercise programs, physical therapy, over-the-counter medication, Transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TENS), and Cognitive and behavioral modification.

¡Second Tier – Nerve Blocks, systemic opioids, and neurolysis.
